John

John started dancing when he was 9 years old, firstly with Rock N Roll (Jive). He learned in the infamous Lindella Dance School in Glasgow which originated in the 50’s. He entered and won his first dance competition at the age of 11, winning the West of Scotland Championship for Jive. He went on to win numerous other competitions up and down the country. Alongside Jive he danced Disco, Ballroom and Latin American. In 2007 he started dancing Cuban Salsa, taking this to a high level and then Argentine Tango came along in 2008 and took over his entire dance focus. He has spent many years learning from Tango Maestros such as Federico Navera, Esteban Moreno, Ismael Ludman, Horatio Godoy, and Pablo Veron. John has been teaching tango since 2010, large group classes, small intensive classes and private lessons. Teaching Tango, Vals and Milonga (which is his specialty). His style focusses on body mechanics, muscle isolation and full understanding of dissociation and musicality. Tango is an improvised dance so “Freedom in the dance is so important, understanding the how, why and what if will open a whole new world in your dance”

Jar

Jar didn't start dancing properly until her late 20s. She began with classical Egyptian belly dancing, ballroom, flamenco, kizomba and salsa until she discovered Argentine tango ten years ago. She is passionate and was thinking about tango all the time. In 2013 she spent one month in Buenos Aires intensively learning from milongueros and tango maestros. No embrace like Buenos Aires so she went back to dance and learn more in 2015 and 2016. She was lucky to have opportunities to learn from many maestros like Pedro Sanchez, Alejandro Glee, Horacio Godoy, Jorge Firpo, Osvaldo Centeno, Gabriela Elias, Esteban Moreno, Claudia Codega, Moira Castellano, Gaston Torelli, Ismael Ludman and Maria Mondeno for example. Jar started teaching with John in Glasgow in 2017 until John moved to Edinburgh and they continue teaching together in Edinburgh.
